第28届影视研究国际学术研讨会:英国格拉斯哥大学

The 28th international Screen Studies Conference will take place at the University of Glasgow, Friday 29 June - Sunday 1 July 2018, programmed by Screen Editors Jackie Stacey and Sarah Street.

We are pleased to welcome keynote speakers Erica Carter (Kings College London), Amelie Hastie (Amherst College) and Joshua Yumibe (Michigan State University).

There is no specific theme to this year's conference, and we invite proposals on all topics within film and television studies.

Deadlines and decisions

The deadline for submissions is midnight (GMT) on Sunday, 7 January 2018. Decisions will be circulated around end February.

A Instructions for submitting an individual proposal

SSC2018 single proposal template

Please download the single proposal template. Overwrite text as instructed and save the template with your surname as the filename. Please limit abstracts to 200 words max. (Bibliographies and biographies are not required.)  Your approximate time slot for delivering your paper will be 20 minutes.

Email your proposal by the deadline to screen@arts.gla.ac.uk, marking the subject box “SSC2018 proposal”.

B Instructions for submitting a panel proposal

SSC2018 panel proposal template

We recommend a maximum of three papers per panel to allow time for speakers and discussion. Each speaker should work to an approximate time slot of 20 minutes for delivering their paper.

Each member of the panel should download the panel proposal template and submit a individual proposal with details of their own paper, noting the name of the proposed panel. There is an additional, optional field to outline the overall rationale of the panel if wished.

Please overwrite text as instructed and save the template using your surname plus the panel title as the filename, eg "Brown - Animals and the Inhuman". Please limit abstracts to 200 words max. (Bibliographies and biographies are not required.)

Each member should email their proposal by the deadline to screen@arts.gla.ac.uk, marking the subject box “SSC2018 panel proposal”.

Fees and registration

Frozen for many years, the 2018 standard conference fee will increase to £200 this year to reflect rising conference costs. The student rate remains £95 however, and Screen will again offer ten student-speakers bursaries of £150 to facilitate attendance. Bursaries will be awarded by lottery after shortlisting has taken place.

The conference fee includes entrance to all talks, lunches and refreshments over the weekend and a Friday evening reception. A Saturday evening conference dinner (price TBC) can be booked during registration.

Online registration will open in Spring 2018. All subscribers to our mailing list, and shortlisted speakers, will receive an email alert when registration goes live. Publishers on our mailing list will receive instructions about booking display stands and inserts around the same time. Publisher attendance fees are set at the same rate as the standard delegate fee plus VAT.

To join our mailing list, please send an email to screen@arts.gla.ac.uk, with "Subscribe to mailing list" in the header and your details in the body text.
